30th June:

South Uist: 25 Common Scoters, a Storm Petrel and 388 Manx Shearwaters passed Ardvule this morning. An Avocet and 27 Black-tailed Godwits were at the south-west end of Loch Bee.

29th June:

Benbecula: A 1st summer Little Gull was at Loch Fada.

South Uist: 24 Black-tailed Godwits were in the south-west corner of Loch Bee.

28th June:

Benbecula: The 1st summer Glaucous Gull was still at Stinky Bay this evening.

South Uist: An Avocet was at the south-west end of Loch Bee this afternoon.

 

27th June:

Benbecula: The 1st summer Glaucous Gull was in Stinky Bay again today.

Insects: A Hummingbird Hawkmoth was in Adabrock, Lewis today.

 

26th June:

Benbecula: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was in Stinky Bay today.

25th June:

Lewis: A Sooty Shearwater flew north-west past Port of Ness this morning and a Quail was heard calling at Adabrock.

South Uist: An Avocet was in the south-west corner of Loch Bee this evening.

24th June:

North Uist: A Barnacle Goose was at Hougharry today.

Benbecula: 23 Black-tailed Godwits were at Loch Mor around midday.

23rd June:

Barra: An adult Ring-billed Gull was at Cleat this evening before flying along the beach.

 

22nd June:

Lewis: A Quail was heard calling south of Lionel School. A Night Heron flew south over South Galson late evening.

South Uist: 5 Avocets were in the south-west corner of Loch Bee this evening.

 

21st June:

North Uist: 2 Whimbrel were at Port Scopaig. A Swift was seen at the north end of the Committee Road today.

Benbecula: A 1st summer Little Gull was at Loch Mor.

South Uist: The Long-tailed Tit is still at North Loch Eynort.

Barra: A Hobby flew south at Eoligarry this moring.

 

20th June:

Insects: Large numbers of Red Admirals around today as well as Painted Ladies and Silver Y's.

Black-throated Diver, Outer Hebrides birds female Hen Harrier, Outer Hebrides Black-throated Diver and Hen Harrier (Alan Kennedy)

 

19th June:

Marine Sightings: 2 Orcas were seen at St. Kilda (from a boat). 3 Orcas and 2 White-beaked Dolphins were seen from Tiumpan Head.

Insects: 3 Drinker, a Map-winged Swift, 2 Scotch Annulet, 1 Buff-tip, 1 Lime-speck Pug, 1 Thyme Pug, 1Grass Rivulet, 1 Agapeta hamana, 1 Eudonia mercurella, 1 Eana Penziana, 2 Notocelia uddmanniana and 2 Diamond-back Moths were trapped on Eriskay last night. Whilst in South Glendale 6 Straw Dot, 1 Pinion-streaked Snout, 1 Buff-tip, 1 Pretty Pinion and 2 Purple Clay were caught.

18th June:

Benbecula: A 1st summer Little Gull was seen at Torlum.

14th June:

Harris: A Crossbill was at at Flodabay. A Pintail was at Northton and 9 Velvet Scoters were reported in the Sound of Taransay in the morning before flying south.

Insects: A Beautiful Brocade was trapped at South Glendale and a Peppered Moth, 2 Common Lutestrings and 2 Poplar Lutestrings were caught at North Loch Eynort.

13th June:

North Uist: A Swift was over Claddach Kirkibost in the morning.

 

12th June:

Lewis: A Sooty Shearwater was off Port of Ness this morning.

North Uist: A Gull-billed Tern was seen off the east side of the Udal, north of Grenitote around 12:30.

South Uist: 2 Avocets were at the south-west corner of Loch Bee.

 

11th June:

Insects: 107 moths / 26 species were trapped in South Glendale last night including 6 Drinker, 22 Flame Shoulder, 1 Spectacle, 1 Dark Spectacle, 1 Common Wave, 3 Green Carpet, 7 Dusky Brocade and 1 Foxglove Pug.

7th June:

St. Kilda: A Blyth's Reed Warbler was on Hirta today.

North Uist: An Osprey flew south over Clachan this morning. An adult Little Gull was seen of the west of Berneray.

Barra: A Hawfinch was seen at Brevig.

Insects: A Sallow Kitten, Coxcomb Prominent and a Scalloped Hazel were trapped in Carinish last night.

Marine Sightings: At least 6 Orcas were seen off Tiumpan Head this afternoon; also 4 Fin Whales and a Humpback Whale.

6th June:

North Uist: A Pomarine Skua was on a headland near Callernish House before flying west. A Blyth's Reed Warbler was singing video (see here) in Grenitote. A House Martin was at Claddach Kirkibost this afternoon and another was at Loch na Reivil, Hougarry.

South Uist: A male Marsh Harrier flew down the west side of Loch Bee and an Avocet was in the south-west corner this evening.

Insects: A Large Heath was seen at Griminish Pier, North Uist today.

Marine Sightings: 2 Fin Whales and 2 Humpback Whales were seen off Tiumpan Head in the morning.

 

5th June:

Lewis: A White-billed Diver flew north-west past Port of Ness in the afternoon.

 

4th June:

Lewis: An Iceland Gull was at the Butt today.

South Uist: The juvenile Glaucous Gull was on the beach at Kildonan this morning.

 

3rd June:

North Uist: A Hobby flew south at Cheese Bay this afternoon.

 

1st June:

Lewis: An Osprey was seen over Breanish today.

North Uist: A Long-tailed Skua and a Pomarine Skua flew north off Aird an Runair in the afternoon.

Benbecula: 2 Sandwich Terns were in Stinky Bay this afternoon.

South Uist: A juvenile Iceland Gull flew north at Kildonan this afternoon.
