30th June:

South Uist: A Velvet Scoter flew north off Stoneybridge. 3 Black-tailed Godwits were on the Howmore River.

 

28th June:

Lewis: 10 Black-tailed Godwits are on Fivepenny machair.

North Uist: A sea-watch off Griminish Point (07:00 - 09:45) produced a Storm Petrel, 800+ Manx Shearwaters, 3 Bonxies, 78 Kittiwakes, 57 Fulmars, 3 Arctic Terns, 50 Puffins, 2 Black Guillemots (amongst other auks), 3 Red-throated Divers, a Great Northern Diver and 17 Common Scoters heading west.

27th June:

Marine Sightings: 7 White-beaked Dolphins were off the Butt this evening.

 

26th June:

Lewis: 6 Swifts were over South Galson this afternoon. A Hobby was in Balallan this morning.

North Uist: A Swift flew south over Claddach Kirkibost this evening.

25th June:

Lewis: A Sooty Shearwater flew north-west past Port of Ness.

North Uist: 5 Jackdaws were on Kirkibost Island.

Marine Sightings: 2 or 3 Minke Whales and 12 White-beaked Dolphins were off Port of Ness.

 

23rd June:

North Uist: 5 Jackdaws flew south over Claddach Kirkibost this afternoon.

Marine Sightings: 4 Minke Whales were off Port of Ness.

 

21st June:

Fulmar, Outer Hebrides BIrds Great Northern Diver Fulmar and Great Northern Diver (John Kemp)

 

19th June:

Benbecula: A male Ruff was at Loch Mor.

South Uist: A Glaucous Gull was at Ardivachar.

Insects: A Mottled Beauty was trapped on Eriskay last night.

15th June:

Insects: 75 moths / 23 species were trapped in South Glendale last night including 2 Cinnabar and Pleurota bicostella. At North Loch Eynort 42 moths of 13 species which included Common Lutestring, 2 Poplar Lutestring, 1 Tawny-barred Angle, 1 Ruddy Highflyer and 3 Pandemis cerasana.

14th June:

St. Kilda: The White-rumped Sandpiper is still on Hirta; also a Snow Bunting there today.

North Uist: A Red-backed Shrike was reported from Griminish. A Temminck's Stint was reported from Clachan Sands at an outflow along Traigh Lingeigh ths afternoon.

Barra: A male Red-backed Shrike was at Cuithir today.

 

13th June:

St. Kilda: The White-rumped Sandpiper is still on Hirta.

 

12th June:

St. Kilda: A White-rumped Sandpiper is on Hirta.

North Uist: A Glaucous Gull was in Cheese Bay.

Marine Sightings: 6 Minke Whales were off Port of Ness and a similar number were seen from Tiumpan Head. 3 Orcas were off the east coast of Barra.

 

9th June:

Barra: A Waxwing was at Bolnabodach this morning.

 

5th June:

South Uist: 2 Long-tailed Skuas flew north past Ardvule at 8.15 am.

 

4th June:

North Uist: 2 Long-tailed Skuas flew north off Aird an Runair just after 8 am.

 

3rd June:

North Uist: A male Ruff was by Loch nam Feithean. 3 Long-tailed Skuas flew north at Aird an Runair early this morning. A female Hawfinch was in Carinish.

 

2nd June:

North Uist: A Curlew Sandpiper was on Loch Paible. 3 Crossbills were at Langass Lodge.

South Uist: A Golden Oriole was in Bornish (for its second day).

1st June:

Benbecula: A male Golden Oriole was reported as singing from overhead wires along the Muir of Aird road today.

South Uist: A Hawfinch was in South Glendale this morning.

Barra: The Turtle Dove was still at Cuithir today.

Insects: A Small Magpie moth was trapped in Carinish last night. On Eriskay a Common Wave, 2 Cinnabar, Ancylis geminana and Agapeta hamana were caught.
