30th April:
Lewis: 2 Chiffchaff and a Blackcap were in Lew's Castle Grounds. The female Scaup was on Loch Tiumpan. A Pintail, 4 Whimbrel, 2 Fieldfare and 4 White Wagtails were seen around Loch Stiapabhat. The Mandarin is still in the Bayhead area of Stornoway. A pale-bellied Brent Goose, Goosander and 4 Whooper Swans were at Loch Ordais.
South Uist: 16 Whimbrel were on the Range. A Wood PIgeon was at Carnan. A Fieldfare was at South Glendale. 22 Whimbrel and a Black-tailed Godwit were at Smerclate. 2 Avocets were again on the Howmore River this evening. A Grasshopper Warbler was by the Howmore Hostel. A Tree Sparrow was near Gorgarry Lodge. 21 Whimbrel were at Stilligarry.
Barra: The Serin was still present today; also a Brambling, Grasshopper Warbler and a Great Tit in the same area. 2 Tree Sparrows were at Brevig this evening.
Insects: 2 female Belted Beauties were seen at Smerclate.
29th April:
Lewis: 3 Dotterel were on Eoropie machair this morning moving to Fivepenny in the evening. 127 Pink-footed Geese flew west past Tiumpan Head this morning. The Mandarin was still in Stornoway. A drake Garganey was on Loch Stiapabhat along with a Coot; also 4 Whooper Swans and 5 Pink-footed Geese there. 2 skiens of Pink-footed Geese (22 and 45) flew west over Skigersta. 600 Pink-footed Geese and 12 Barnacle Geese were seen at Barvas. A female Scaup was on Loch Tiumpan. Cuckoos were at Leurbost and Grimshader.
Harris: A Cuckoo was in Tarbet.
Benbecula: 18 Whimbrel were at Loch Fada. A 2nd cal yr Glaucous Gull was at Stinky Bay.
South Uist: 2 Avocets are still on the Howmore River today. A 2nd cal yr Glaucous Gull was at Ardvule. 9 Whimbrel were at Ardivachar. 9 Black-tailed Godwits were on the Howmore River and 7 were at Loch Bee.
Barra: A Serin was singing at Nask today; also a Brambling in the same area. A Wood Warbler was at Creachan with several Grasshopper Warblers. A Grasshopper Warbler was in Northbay.

28th April:
Lewis: 409 Long-tailed Ducks were on Loch Branahuie; also 13 Pink-footed Geese and 24 White Wagtails there. At least 415 Great Northern Divers and 12 Common Scoters were in Broad Bay. A Mandarin was seen in Stornoway. 5 Fieldfare were seen in Ness. 38 Pink-footed Geese were at Loch Stiapabhat. 43 Pink-footed Geese were at South Dell. 6 Whimbrel and 4 White Wagtails were at Borve. A Jackdaw was seen at Eoropie.
Harris: A Whimbrel was seen at Miavaig.
North Uist: The drake Garganey was still on Loch na Reivil.
South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule included 64 Gannets, 1 Common Scoter, 2 Arctic Skuas and 21 Kittiwakes while birds flying north included 53 Gannets, 6 Great Skuas, 1 Arctic Skua, 1 Black-throated Diver and 15 Black-tailed Godwits.
Barra: A Green Sandpiper was over Vatersay; also 2 Pink-footed Geese there. A 2nd cal yr Iceland Gull was at Allasdale. The Great Tit was seen at Creachan.

27th April:
Lewis: A Stock Dove, Garganey and an Iceland Gull were seen at Loch Stiapabhat. A female Scaup was on Loch Tiumpan along with 6 Whooper Swans. 80 Pink-footed Geese were at Steonish.
North Uist: A drake Garganey was on Loch na Reivil. 27 Whimbrel, an adult Little Gull and a Jackdaw were seen at Balranald.
Benbecula: 7 Whimbrel were at Loch Mor.
South Uist: 2 Avocets were on the Howmore River this afternoon. A House Martin was at Garryhellie. 2 Common Scoters were seen at Ardivachar along with 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 800 Turnstone, 600 Sanderling and 250 Dunlin. 2 Common Redpolls and 2 Willow Warblers were at Carnan. Birds at Ardvule heading south this morning included 1 Red-throated Diver, 103 Gannets (+52N) and 52 Kittiwakes. Birds flying north included 4 Great Skuas, 1 Arctic Skua and 4 Whimbrel. A Cuckoo was at Loch Skipport. 5 Whimbrel and 20 Wheatears were on the Range with several Greenland type birds. A drake Garganey was seen at Frobost.
Marine Sightings: 5 Killer Whales were seen off the east side of Barra this evening.

26th April:
Benbecula: The drake Ring-necked Duck was on Coot Loch and a Ruff was at Loch Fada.
South Uist: 30 Whimbrel were at Askernish and another 26 were at Garrynamonie.
Barra: A Tree Sparrow was seen on Vatersay today.
Insects: Moths at North Loch Eynort last night included 24 Clouded Drab, 16 Brown Silver-line, 20 Red Chestnut, 1 Herald, 1 Scalloped Hazel, 6 Early Tooth-striped, 4 May Highflyer, 6 Ruddy Highflyer, 4 Grey Pine Carpet, 4 Golden-rod Pugs, 1 Common Pug and an Agonopterix ocellana. In South Glendale there were 2 Puss Moths, 1 Emperor Moth, 44 Brown Silver-line, 2 Flame Carpet, 2 Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpets and an Early Grey.

25th April:
Lewis: A Chiffchaff was singing in Barvas.
Harris: A single Barnacle Goose was seen with Greylags; also 40+ Common Scoters adn 20 Long-tailed Ducks in the Sound of Taransay.
North Uist: 2 pale-bellied Brent Geese, 27 Whimbrel and a few White Wagtails were at Balranald.
South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule included 35 Gannets (22N), 1 Black-throated Diver, 1 Red-throated Diver, 4 Fulmar (2N), 1 Manx Shearwater (N), 19 Kittiwakes (16N), 2 Arctic Terns, single Arctic Skua and Great Skua both N, 11 Razorbill (10N), 58 Puffins (17N) and 8 Whimbrel N. Also present 1 Grey Plover, 2 Whimbrel and 4 White Wagtails.
Barra: The Great Tit was at Northbay today. A Sedge Warbler was at Grean. 4 Blackcaps were at Eoligarry and 6 were at Creachan. Single Pink-footed Geese were at Eoligarry and Tangasdale. 50 Long-tailed Ducks were off Craigston.

24th April:
Benbecula: The drake Ring-necked Duck was on Coot Loch this afternoon whilst 7 Whimbrel and 3 White Wagtails were nearby at Borve Point.
South Uist: 8 Whimbrel and 16 Black-tailed Godwits were at Smerclate today.
Insects: A Silver Y, 3 Dark Sword-grass, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, Brindled Ochre and Early Tooth-striped moth were caught in Carinish last night.

23rd April:
Lewis: 250 Long-tailed Duck and an immature Glaucous Gull were at Loch Branahuie this morning.
North Uist: Cuckoos were heard in Grenitote and at Vallay Strand today.
South Uist: A Chiffchaff and 4 Common Redpolls were at Loch Eynort.
Barra: A Crane was seen circling high over Vatersay this afternoon before heading off to the south-west towards Mingulay. There were also several Willow Warblers, a Chiffchaff and House Martin on Vatersay. The Great Tit is still on Barra along with 3 Grasshopper Warblers and the first calling Corncrakes
Insects: A Green-veined White and Red Admiral were at North Loch Eynort today. Moth trapping in South Glendale last night produced a Belted Beauty. 1 Flame Carpet, 1 Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet, 11 Brown Silver-line, 32 Red Chestnut, 2 Clouded Drab, 3 Powdered Quaker, 1 Brindled Ochre, 1 Caloptilia elongella, 117 Acleris hyemana, 1 Acleris hastiana, 2 Acleris rufana and an Epinotia immundana.

22nd April:
Lewis: A Grasshopper Warbler was singing at Newmarket, Stornoway this evening. 105 Pink-footed Geese, 5 Whooper Swans and a Coot were at Loch Stiapabhat.
North Uist: A couple of Arctic Terns were on the North Ford this morning. 22 Black-tailed Godwits were on Baleshare. 43 Pink-footed Geese were at Loch Dusary. 3 Arctic Skuas were over Sollas beach this morning. An Iceland Gull, 35 Black-tailed Godwits and 5 White Wagtails were at Aird an Runair this morning. A Scaup was on Loch na Reivil.
Benbecula: 217 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Common Terns were at Coot Loch. 108 Black-tailed Godwits, a Whimbrel and 4 Common Terns were on Loch Mor.
South Uist: Birds moving south at Ardvule this morning included 5 Red-throated Divers, 1 Great Northern Diver, 62 Gannets, 44 Fulmars, 3 Manx Shearwaters, 42 Kittiwakes, 2 Arctic Terns, 1 Great Skua, 5 Razorbills and 2 Guillemots while a Woodpigeon flew north. Also present were a 2nd cal yr Glaucous Gull, 3 Whimbrel, 72 Black-tailed Godwits, 6 Sand Martins, a Swallow and 2 White Wagtails.

21st April:
North Uist: A Corncrake was calling intermittently at Balemore this morning. A Cuckoo was heard at Callernish this morning. 192 Black-tailed Godwits and hundreds of Golden Plover were on Baleshare this afternoon.
South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule included 35 Gannets, 2 Great Northern Divers, 3 Red-throated Divers (+2 N), 12 Razorbills, 1 Fulmar (+3 N), 5 Kittiwakes (+8 N) and 1 Great Skua N. Also 19 Snipe in off the sea and a flock of 118 Black-tailed Godwits moving about between Loch Ardvule and Bornish machair.
Barra: 50 Black-tailed Godwits were flying around Loch an Doin this morning; also 40 at Borve and 17 at Caolas. A Cuckoo was at Brevig. 4 Little Terns were at Traigh Mhor and a Sandwich Tern was in Castlebay this evening.

20th April:
Lewis: A White-billed Diver was seen this afternoon off the Butt at NB523664 before drifting towards the lighthouse. 15 Black-tailed Godwits flew high to north-west over the Butt; also 2 Whimbrel, 2 House Martins, a Sand Martin, 3 White Wagtails and lots of Wheatears.
North Uist: 2 Common Terns were in Lochmaddy harbour. 2 Arctic Terns were off Berneray harbour. A Canada Goose and a single Barnacle Goose were on Baleshare today. 2 Little Terns and 10 Brent Geese were at Balranald.
Benbecula: At least 40 Black-tailed Godwits were at Borve Point along with 3 Whimbrel. 3 Arctic Terns were at Loch Mor.
South Uist: Birds south at Ardvule included 94 Gannets, 4 Red-throated Divers, 2 Great Skuas (+1N), 1 Arctic Skua N, 2 Arctic Terns, 192 Kittiwakes, 11 Manx Shearwaters, 6 Fulmars, 13 Razorbills, 17 Puffin (+17N) and 5 Whimbrel. Also present were a 2nd cal yr Glaucous Gull, 2 Pintail and a Whimbrel.
Barra: A Brambling was seen at Ardmhor; also a Common Sandpiper and a couple of Arctic Terns were seen. 25 Black-tailed Godwits and a Moorhen were on Vatersay.

19th April:
Lewis: 2 Sandwich Terns and a Whimbrel were at North Tolsta whilst 4 Whooper Swans were on the sea.
North Uist: A few Whimbrel and Little Terns were seen in the north-west of the island. 57 Black-tailed Godwits were at Aird an Runair. Good numbers of Willow Warblers around today with 3 in our garden at 7 Carinish alone.
Benbecula: 2 Common Terns and 5 Black-tailed Godwits were at Coot Loch.
Insects: A Great Yellow Bumblebee was seen in Grenitote today. An Early Tooth-striped, 32 Brown Silver-line, 4 Early Grey, 1 Powdered Quaker, 1 Dark Sword-grass, another Acleris rufana, 1 Acleris hastiana and 3 Acleris hyemana were caught in South Glendale last night. At North Loch Eynort catch included 7 Early Tooth-striped, 1 Red-green Carpet, 1 Grey Pine Carpet, 4 Brown Silver-line, 6 Clouded Drab and 2 Early Grey.

18th April:
North Uist: 350+ Pink-footed Geese flew north over Balranald this morning in 2 flocks; also at least 7 Whimbrel and 14 Black-tailed Godwits there. At least 2 Willow Warblers were in Carinish. 3 Arctic Terns and 4 Little Terns were reported from Clachan Sands today.
South Uist: Birds flying south at Ardvule this morning included 4 Red-throated Divers, 18 Gannets, 18 Fulmars, 2 Manx Shearwaters, 81 Kittiwakes, 1 Arctic Skua, 112 Puffins and 7 Razorbills. Birds flying north were 52 Gannets, 52 Barnacle Geese and 3 Whimbrel. 16 Black-tailed Godwits were on Daliburgh machair. 2 Whimbrel were at Smerclate.
Barra: A Jackdaw was over Brevig before flying west. A Sandwich Tern was also off Brevig and a House Martin flew north. The Great Tit was at Creachan. 79 Pink-footed Geese flew north late morning.
Insects: 16 Brown Silver-line, 1 Puss Moth, 3 Powdered Quaker, 23 Hebrew Character, 15 Red Chestnut, 2 Early Grey, 1 Brindled Ochre, 1 Agonopterix ocellana, 3 Agonopterix yeatiana, 1 Agonopterix ciliella, 3 Acleris hyemana, 1 Acleris hastiana and 1 Acleris rufana were caught in South Glendale last night. A Powdered Quaker and Dark Sword-grass were caught in Carinish.

17th April:
North Uist: A Chiffchaff was in Carinish this evening.
South Uist: 46 Gannets, 1 Fulmar, 4 Manx Shearwaters, 55 Kittiwakes, 77 Puffins, 2 Great Skuas and 2 Common Scoters flew north at Ardvule this morning. Birds flying south included 24 Gannets, 2 Manx Shearwaters, 6 Razorbills, 13 Puffins and 17 Kittiwakes. A Sandwich Tern also flew south there later in the morning and 3 Whimbrel were present. 45 Black-tailed Godwits and a pair of Pintail were on Bornish machair whilst around 10 Sand Martins and a Swallow were hawking along the dune edge. Around 30 Black-tailed Godwits were at Stoneybridge. At least 7 Common Redpolls were at North Loch Eynort. 2 Blackcaps were in South Glendale.
16th April:
Lewis: 17 Pink-footed Geese and 278 Long-tailed Ducks were on Loch Branahuie this morning.
North Uist: Willow Warblers were seen in Carinish and at Langass.
South Uist: Birds flying south at Ardvule included 29 Gannets, 4 Red-throated Divers, 3 Long-tailed Ducks 1 Great Skua, 2 Kittiwakes, 4 Razorbills and 9 Black-tailed Godwits while 2 Fulmars flew north. 2 Pintail and 10 Black-tailed Godwits were on Bornish machair. 2 Siskin were in South Glendale.
Barra: A Sandwich Tern was seen at Eoligarry. A Common Sandpiper was in Northbay. The Great Tit and a Siskin were at Creachan.

Lewis: A Jackdaw was seen in Lionel today. 17 Pink-footed Geese and 80 Long-tailed Ducks were at Loch Branahuie.
North Uist: A Canada Goose was seen in Carinish. A Chiffchaff was in Lochmaddy.
South Uist: A drake Green-winged Teal was on the Howmore River. At least 4 Willow Warblers were singing at North Loch Eynort. A 2nd cal yr Glaucous Gull was on the shore at Stoneybridge and a Swallow was seen nearby. 9 Black-tailed Godwits and a Whimbrel were on Bornish machair. A pair of Pintail were on Loch Ardvule; also 3 Whimbrel in the area. Around 40 Black-tailed Godwits were at the north end of Loch Bee this morning. 2 pale-bellied Brent Geese were in North Bay. A Common Redpoll, 3 Siskins and 20 Goldfinch were in South Glendale.
14th April:
North Uist: A Chiffchaff was in Carinish today. 12 Black-tailed Godwits were on Loch na Paisg, Baleshare.
South Uist: A Common Redpoll, Siskin and Blackcap are in South Glendale.

Harris: Several Redwings were at Ghobaig.
North Uist: A Canada Goose was on Vallay Strand. A Swallow was at Backhill, Berneray this afternoon.

North Uist: 3 Black-tailed Godwits were at Aird an Runair. At least 7 Sand Martins were at Loch na Reivil, Hougharry. A Lapland Bunting was amongst the Twite on the machair at Balranald.
South Uist: 100 Black-tailed Godwits were at the north end of Loch Bee this morning.
Barra: The Great Tit was seen at Ceachan again today.
Marine Sightings: 10 Risso's Dolphins were seen in the Minch off the Shiants.

South Uist: 8 Black-tailed Godwits and 2 Pintail were on Bornish machair. 4 Sand Martins were at Ardvule. 2 Common Redpolls were in South Glendale.
Insects: 7 Hebrew Characters and 1 Clouded Drab were trapped at Carnan last night.

10th April:
Lewis: A male Black Redstart was seen at Fivepenny this afternoon. 150+ Pink-footed Geese flew south over Breasclete at 1:40 pm.
North Uist: 1,000 Barnacle Geese, 2 Brent Geese and 17 Pink-footed Geese were at Loch Grogarry. At least 4,000 Barnacle Geese were at Balranald and a Jackdaw was seen at Aird an Runair.
Barra: A Great Tit was at Creachan and a Treecreeper in Northbay. The Canada Goose was still at Borve with 85 Barnacle Geese.
Insects: 10 Early Tooth-striped, 1 Double-striped Pug, 17 Clouded Drab, 66 Hebrew Character, 39 Red Chestnut, 2 Agonopterix yeatiana, 1 Caloptilia betulicola and 2 Acleris hyemana were caught at Druidibeg plantation last night.

9th April:
Lewis: The juvenile Glaucous Gull was east of Branahuie again this morning. 200+ Pink-footed Geese flew towards Ness over Breasclete at 10:45 am followed by many more heard at 2 pm.
Harris: 50 Pink-footed Geese flew up Glen Meavaig this morning.
Benbecula: A drake Scaup was on Coot Loch.
South Uist: Birds north at Ardvule this morning were 379 Barnacle Geese and 7 Whooper Swans. Also present were 5 Black-tailed Godwits. On Bornish machair 2 Pink-footed Geese, 6 Black-tailed Godwits and 4 Pintail. A small flock of Pink-footed Geese were heard heading north at South Glendale before light whilst 3 Siskins were in the garden there. A Chiffchaff and Blackcap were seen in Bornish. 170 Barnacle Geese and 70 Pink-footed Geese flew north-west over Bornish around lunchtime.
Barra: 173 Great Northern Diver and 6 Black-throated Divers were off the east side of Vatersay.
Insects: 48 Hebrew Characters, 2 Powdered Quaker, 3 Early Grey, 5 Red Chestnut and 2 Dark Sword-grass as well as 5 Acleris hyemana were caught in South Glendale last night. A Peacock butterfly was also seen in South Glendale today. A Red Admiral was seen in Bornish.

8th April:
Lewis: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was at the Braighe, Stornoway. A Hawfinch was seen at Carishader in the morning.
North Uist: The Hawfinch is still at Balemore. At least 4,000 Barnacle Geese were recorded in the Balranald area; also 4 Wheatears and a couple of White Wagtails.
South Uist: Birds north at Ardvule this morning included 622 Barnacle Geese, 22 Whooper Swans and 1 Great Skua while a Great Northern Diver flew south. Also present were 4 Pintail, a juvenile Glaucous Gull and a White Wagtail. Also a Pink-footed Goose on Bornish machair.

North Uist: A Brambling was seen at Langass.
Benbecula: The drake Ring-necked Duck was still on Coot Loch; also 22 Gadwall there. A drake Pintail was on Loch Fada.
South Uist: 12 Black-tailed Gowits and 4 Pintail were on Bornish machair. A Little Egret was seen heading north at Loch Druidibeg, Stilligarry. 35 Black-tailed Godwits were seen on the Range. 3 Pintail were seen at Loch Tornish. A Sand Martin flew north at Howmore.
6th April:
North Uist: A Kumlien's Gull was seen at Balranald. 2 White Wagtails were along the shore at Balranald and 13 Greenland White-fronted Geese were present.
South Uist: 895 Barnacle Geese flew north at Ardvule this morning. 120 Pink-footed Geese came in off the sea at Ardivachar at 11:30 before continuing north. 25 Black-tailed Godwits were at Loch an t'Saile and another 2 were on the Range with 800 Golden Plover. The Blackcap is still at Carnan.
Insects: 3 Early Grey, 7 Red Chestnut, 86 Hebrew Character, 6 Dark Sword-grass and an Acleris hyemana were caught in South Glendale last night. At North Loch Eynort 4 Early Tooth-striped (earliest by 5 days), 1 Brown Silver-line (earliest by 12 days), 51 Hebrew Character, 2 Red Chestnut, 8 Clouded Drab, 6 Early Grey, 6 Dark Sword-grass and 6 Agonopterix ocellana were caught.

5th April:
Lewis: 100's of Pink-footed Geese were seen heading north-west over the Butt of Lewis today; also 100's of Redwings still around Ness.
Harris: 8 Wheatears and several Redwings were in Glen Meavaig.
North Uist: The Hawfinch was still in Balemore today along with a Chiffchaff. 60+ Pink-footed Geese dropped in at Balranald late morning. An adult Kumlien's Gull was at Balranald. A drake Green-winged Teal is still on Loch Sandary; also 2 Black-tailed Godwits were present.
Barra: 90 Pink-footed Geese flew north over the island this morning. The Great Tit is still at Creachan.
4th April:
Lewis: 30 Barnacle Geese and a blue Fulmar were seen at Tiumpan Head today.
Harris: 30 Redwings were at Luskentyre.
North Uist: A Hawfinch was seen in Balemore this evening. An Iceland Gull and a Glaucous Gull were at Rubh' Arnal.
South Uist: 3 Black-tailed Godwits were on Bornish machair. 3 Goldcrests were in South Glendale. The Blackcap is still in Carnan.
Barra: The Canada Goose was still at Borve. The Great Tit is still at Creachan. 3 flocks of Barnacle Geese totalling 223 birds and a flock of 23 Greenland White-fronted Geese flew north-west over Brevig this evening.
3rd April:
Harris: 2 Wheatears were at Miavaig, North Harris today.
South Uist: Movement off Ardvule today included 84 Fulmars and 47 Gannets south whilst 62 Gannets flew north.
Barra: The Canada Goose was still at Borve whilst a couple of Pink-footed Geese were grounded in the strong northerly winds today. A House Martin was at Brevig.
2nd April:
Lewis: 1,500 - 2,000 Redwings were in Ness this afternoon. 2 Wheatears were seen at the Butt whilst good numbers of Pink-footed Geese were arriving.
North Uist: A new Cackling Goose was at Balranald with Barnacle Geese. 50 Greenland White-fronted Geese dropped in at Loch nam Feithean from the north in the morning. The Canada and Cackling Goose were at Kyles Paible. A Wheatear was seen near Black Point, Grimsay. The drake Green-winged Teal was on Loch Sandary. 4 Wheatears were at Aird an Runair. An adult Glaucous Gull and 2 Iceland Gulls (and adult and juvenile) were at Rubh' Arnal.
Benbecula: The drake Ring-necked Duck and 17 Black-tailed Gowits were at Coot Loch. 5 Greenland White-fronted Geese were opposite the golf course. Several Wheatears were on the east side of the island. A Wood Pigeon was seen at Gramsdale this afternoon.
South Uist: The male Blackap is still at Carnan.
Barra: The Great Tit was at Creachan. The juvenile Iceland Gull was at Borve. A House Martin flew south at Brevig and a few Chiffchaffs were on the island.

1st April:
Lewis: 400+ Pink-footed Geese were by Loch Stiapabhat. 250 Redwings were at Barvas.
North Uist: At least 70 Redwings were in Carinish. The drake American Wigeon was on Loch an Sticir. 9 Greenland White-fronted Geese were at Clachan Sands and 35 were seen at Cletterval. 80 Redwings were at Malaclate whilst 160 were seen at Griminish. 2 Great Skuas flew north off Aird an Runair.
Benbecula: The drake Ring-necked Duck and 22 Black-tailed Godwits were at Coot Loch this afternoon.
South Uist: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was seen at Askernish.
Barra: The Canada Goose was still at Borve along with a juvenile Iceland Gull.
