30th November:

North Uist: 12 Fieldfares were at Loch Euphort today. The Firecrest and a few Bramblings are in Grenitote.

South Uist: A drake Green-winged Teal and drake Pintail were on Loch Stilligarry.

Marine Sightings: A Humpback Whale was seen off Tiumpan Head on Friday 28th with apparently 2 present for the week before.

29th November:

Benbecula: 8 Slavonian Grebes were off Balivanich today.

South Uist: 3 Blackcaps were in South Glendale. A Bonxie was over the north end of Loch Bee and Balgarva this morning. 120 Greenland White-fronted Geese were west of Loch Bee.

28th November:

North Uist: A Fieldfare is in Carinish.

South Uist: 4 Blackcaps and a Goldcrest were in South Glendale today.

Marine Sightings:Good numbers of dolphins are still present in the Minch; although distant from the Uig - Lochmaddy ferry this morning they were almost certainly Common Dolphins.

27th November:

North Uist: A drake Goosander is on Loch nam Magarlan.

South Uist: A Scaup is on Loch nam Faoileann. 15 Greenland White-fronted Geese are near Askernish.

25th November:

South Uist: 3 Blackcaps are still in South Glendale.

22nd November:

North Uist: 3 Fieldfare were on Grimsay and another was at Carinish. The drake Scaup is still on Loch Sandary.

South Uist: A Great Skua flew south off Ardvule this morning. 8 Blackcaps are in South Glendale.

21st November:

North Uist: 3 Fieldfare and a Brambling were in Carinish this morning. A drake American Wigeon was on the small lochan by the turning for Cheese Bay yesterday.

Benbecula: 3 Snow Buntings were at Borve Point.

20th November:

North Uist: The American Coot is at Loch nam Feithean; also a Jack Snipe there and 5 Fieldfare nearby. A Pink-footed Goose was with Greylags at the south end of Balranald.

19th November:

North Uist: The American Cootis still on Loch nam Feithean and a Richard's Pipitflew west over there around mid-day. 50 Common Scoters are off the west side of Berneray whilst a pale-bellied Brent Goose and Fieldfare were at Rushgarry. The Firecrestwas again in Grenitote.

South Uist: 6 Blackcaps are still in South Glendale.

18th November:

North Uist: A juvenile Arctic Tern flew north-west along the shore on Baleshare this morning. A juvenile / 1st winter Glaucous Gull was between Rubh' Arnal and Kyles Paible today as well as 5 Snow Buntings, 3 Pied Wagtails and 4 pale-bellied Brent Geese. The drake Scaup is on Loch Sandary and 12 Fieldfare were nearby. The American Coot was reported from Loch nam Feithean again today but distant on the south side of the loch (Bird Guides).

South Uist: A Greenland Redpoll and 6 Blackcaps were in South Glendale this morning.

Insects: A Rusty-dot Pearl was trapped in South Glendale last night.

17th November:

Harris: A pair of Pintail were seen at Loch Stockinish.

North Uist: A pair of Pintail were on Loch nam Feithean but there was no sign of the American Coot. A drake Scaup was on Loch Sandary and a Fieldfare flew over.

South Uist: 5 Blackcaps were in South Glendale this evening.

16th November:

Lewis: A Wheatear, 2 Fieldfare and a Glaucous Gull were at the Butt today. 2 x 1st winter Glaucous Gulls were Tiumpan Head / Loch Tiumpan; also 2 Pomarine Skuas were off-shore. An adult Lesser Black-backed Gull was also on Loch Tiumpan with 2 argentatus Herring Gulls; another argentatus Herring Gull was on Loch Branahuie. 5 Bramblings were at Urquhart Gardens, Stornoway.

Harris: 3 Fieldfare were between Northton

North Uist: A Firecrest was in Grenitote. An American Coot was found on Loch nam Feithean, Balranald today. 900 Barnacle Geese, 400 Twite and 47 Snow Buntings were on Borve machair, Berneray.

South Uist: 8 Blackcaps, a Brambling, 8 Fieldfare and 2 Woodcock were in South Glendale.

Barra: A Siberian Chiffchaff was in Castle Bay today.

Marine Sightings: A Humpback Whale (possibly 2) was seen repeatedly breaching, distantly to the north of Tiumpan Head around mid-day today. 5 Killer Whales, a Minke Whale, 4 White-beaked Dolphins, around 100 Common Dolphins and around 100 Harbour Porpoise were also seen between 10:00 - 12:45. The 5 Killer Whales were also seen close in at Tiumpan Head in the afternoon, heading north and still present at dusk. A Humpback Whale and 4 Killer Whales were also seen yesterday.

15th November:

Lewis: A Yellow-browed Warbler was at Urquhart Gardens, Stornoway at mid-day today. 4 Glaucous Gulls and an immature Iceland Gull were between the Butt and Loch Stiapabhat. A Fieldfare was also at the Butt and a ringtail Hen Harrier was at Loch Stiapabhat.

South Uist: 6 Blackcaps were in South Glendale today. A female Blackcap and 3 Siskins were at North Loch Eynort.

14th November:

South Uist: 4 Blackcaps are still in South Glendale today.

13th November:

South Uist: A Pomarine Skua was over Eochar today. 4 Blackcaps, a Goldcrest and 3 Fiedfares were in South Glendale.

12th November:

Lewis: 2 immature Iceland Gulls and 3 x 1st winter Glaucous Gulls were between Loch Stiapabhat and the Butt today.

North Uist: 50 Fieldfare and 7 Goldfinch were on Grimsay today in the Scotvein area.

South Uist: 7 Great Northern Divers, 13 Red-throated Divers and a Great Skua were seen heading south off Ardvule this morning. 2 Blackcaps were in South Glendale. 2 Blackcaps, 3 Goldfinch and a Water Rail were at Carnan.

Barra: A Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcaps and a Carrion Crow were seen on the island today.

11th November:

North Uist: A male Blackcap was in Grenitote this afternoon.

South Uist: A male Blackcap was in South Glendale today.

9th November:

Lewis: 26 Fieldfares, 16 Redwings, 2 Blackbirds and a Snow Bunting were at the Butt near the lighthouse area; on the rock stacks in front of the lighthouse were 3 first-winter Glaucous Gulls. A Blackcap was in Port of Ness.

South Uist: 2 Blackcaps and 2 Chiffchaffs were at North Loch Eynort today.

8th November:

Lewis: 2 immature Iceland Gulls and 2 1st winter Glaucous Gulls were at the Butt. 1,600 Kittiwakes were feeding over the sea between the Butt and Port of Ness; also 3 Fieldfare and 14 Snow Buntings along the coast here. A Ring Ouzel was seen amongst a group of Fieldfares at the Butt around 14:30.

South Uist: Movement off Ardvule today (0745 – 1030) included 12 Great Northern Divers, 13 Red-throated Divers, 52 Kittiwakes and a Snow Bunting. The American Wigeon is still on Loch Bornish and the 3 Blackcaps at South Glendale. A Blackcap was at North Loch Eynort and 4 Fieldfare flew over. 45 Redwings were around Milton / Mingarry.

7th November:

Lewis: 60 Snow Buntings ,a 1st winter Glaucous Gull, Woodcock and 15 Fieldfares were at the Butt. 700 Golden Plover were on Eoropie machair. A Blackcap and 5 Fieldfare were in Port of Ness. 44 Barnacle Geese and 100 Snipe were at Loch Stiapabhat.

South Uist: A seawatch at Ardvule (0745 – 1055) produced 347 Gannets, a Fulmar, 20 Great Northern Divers, 16 Red-throated Divers, 2 Pale-bellied Brents, 1 Common Scoter, 9 Long-tailed Duck, 251 Kittiwakes, a Pomarine Skua, 7 Guillemots, 1 Razorbill and 10 Auk sp. heading south. 3 Blackcaps are still in South Glendale. 

6th November:

Lewis: 2 Iceland Gulls and 2 Glaucous Gull were on the machair between Loch Stiapabhat and Fivepenny with another 1st winter Glaucous Gull at the Butt.

South Uist: 2 Fieldfare were seen coming in off the sea at Ardvule this morning. The drake American Wigeon is still on Loch Bornish. 3 Blackcaps are in South Glendale.

5th November:

Lewis: 25 Snow Buntings were near the Butt lighthouse.

South Uist: 3 Blackcaps are still in South Glendale.

Barra: A Siberian Chiffchaff was at Aird Mhor today.

4th November:

Lewis: The 1st winter Glaucous Gull was at the Butt (later in Port of Ness) and 3 Pomarine Skuas flew past.

Lochmaddy - Uig: 22 Pomarine Skuas and 18 Bonxies were seen on the ferry crossing this morning.st

South Uist: A Pomarine Skua was seen overland from east to west at Bornish this afternoon. 3 Blackcaps, a Brambling and 2 Fieldfare were in South Glendale. 2 Chiffchaffs and a Woodcock were at North Loch Eynort. 7 Fieldfares were at Cothrom, near Ormiclate.

3rd November:

Lewis: A 1st winter Glaucous Gull was at the Butt before moving on to Loch Stiapabhat; also a Ruff nearby.

North Uist: 2 Jack Snipe, a Chiffchaff and around 70 Redwings are at Carinish. A Siberian Chiffchaff was at Kallin, Grimsay.

South Uist: 3 Blackcaps are in South Glendale.

Marine Sightings: A Harbour Porpoise was seen off Baleshare.

2nd November:

North Uist: A juvenile Snow Bunting flew over Carinish this morning.

South Uist: A male Blackcap and Chiffchaff are at North Loch Eynort. Seawatch at Ardvule (0720 – 1210) produced a southerly passage of 908 Gannets, 23 Great Northern Divers, 17 Red-throated Divers, 2 Fulmars, 3 Pomarine Skuas, 4 Great Skuas, 188 Kittiwakes, 42 Guillemots, 3 Razorbills, 51 Auk sp., 1 Black Guillemot, 1 Common Scoter, 16 Eiders, 8 Long-tailed Ducks and a Red-breasted Merganser. The drake American Wigeon is still on Loch Bornish. A male and female Blackcap are in South Glendale. A female / juvenile Ring-neck Duck is on West Loch Ollay. A Scaup is on Loch Roag. A Jack Snipe was on Stillgarry machair and 2 Snow Buntings were on the shore there. 230 Whooper Swans were between Ormiclate and Bornish.

1st November:

Benbecula: A Snow Bunting was at Stinky Bay.

South Uist: The Waxwing is still in South Glendale. Seawatching at Ardvule (0750-1020) produced a southerly passage of 1,213 Gannets, 13 Great Northern Divers, 8 Red-throated Divers, 55 Guillemots, 2 Razorbills, 57 Auk sp., 27 Kittiwakes, 3 Pomarine Skuas and a Great Skua. A drake American Wigeon is on Loch Bornish.
