31st January:

North Uist: 2 juvenile Glaucous Gulls, a juvenile Iceland Gull and 25 Brent Geese were at Traigh Eachkamish, Baleshare today.

Benbecula: 21 Brent Geese were near Gramsdale this afternoon. 19 Fieldfare were at Kilerevagh.

South Uist: 2 juvenile Kumlien's Gulls were at West Gerinish today with one in the town>ship near the main road and the other feeding on the dead Orca on the Range. A juvenile Glaucous Gull was at Ardivachar.

30th January:

North Uist: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was on Baleshare this afternoon and 2 drake Pintails were on Loch na Piasg. 3 Iceland Gulls (an adult and 2 juveniles) and 2 juvenile Glaucous Gulls were between Kyles Paible and Rubh' Arnal; as well as 7 pale-bellied Brent Geese. The female ing-necked Duck and drake Scaup were on Loch Sandary. The American Coot is still on Loch nam Feithean. The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was in fields opposite Loch Eaval.

Benbecula: A 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was in Stinky Bay today.

29th January:

North Uist: A 1st winter American Herring Gull was between Rubh' Arnal and Kyles Paible this afternoon. Also 6 Glaucous Gulls (2 x 2nd winter and 4 juveniles), 2 Iceland Gulls (juvenile and adult), a hyrbid Glaucous Gull x Herring Gull and a Pied Wagtail. The female Ring-necked Duck, drake Scaup and drake Green-winged Teal were at Loch Sandary; plus 12+ Fieldfare were nearby.

South Uist: An adult Iceland Gull flew north at Rubha Ardvule this morning.

Marine Sightings: A young Pilot Whale was washed up on the Range today near LA 2.

28th January:

Lewis: 3 Glaucous Gulls were at the seaward side of Loch Barvas today.

South Uist: A juvenile Iceland Gull was on the Range at West Gerinish this morning.

Marine Sightings: A long dead male Orca was washed up on the Range at LA 3.

27th January:

North Uist: The Firecrest was seen again today in Grenitote memorial plantation.

Benbecula: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was behind Creagorry Co-op this morning.

South Uist: A Chiffchaff was at Carnan. A juvenile Glaucous Gull was at Ardivachar and 19 Snow Buntings were at Ardvule.

26th January:

North Uist: A juvenile Glaucous Gull and 2 drake Pintails were on Baleshare today. A Snow Bunting flew over Carinish.

25th January:

North Uist: The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull is in the field opposite Loch Eaval by the turning for Hougharry. The female Ring-necked Duck and drake Scaup are on Loch Sandary.

24th January:

North Uist: A drake American Wigeon was on Loch Mhic Coan; the Cackling Goose was nearby and a 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was on the beach at Baleshare. A Water Rail was in Carinish. The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull is still in the field opposite the north end of Loch Eaval. The American Coot and a juvenile Glaucous Gull were on Loch nam Feithean. 2 juvenile Glaucous Gulls were on Baleshare.

Benbecula: A juvenile and 2nd winter Glaucous Gull were behind the Creagorry Co-op.

South Uist: 7 Woodcock were in Druidibeg plantation. 9 Snow Buntings and a drake Pintail were on Bornish machair today. Another drake Pintail was on Loch Hallan.

23rd January:

South Uist: Sea-watching at Ardvule (0900 – 1100) produced a southerly passage of 2 Great Northern Divers, 2 Red-throated Divers, 9 Gannets, 11 Guillemots, 3 Razorbills, 12 Fulmars, 6 Kittiwakes, 7 Long-tailed  Ducks and a juvenile Iceland / Kumlien's Gull.

22nd January:

North Uist: 2 drake Pintails were on Loch na Paisg, Baleshare.

Benbecula: An adult Glaucous Gull was at Creagorry Co-op today.

South Uist: A Water Rail is coming to a garden in Carnan.

2 x 2nd winter Glaucous Gulls flew west over Baleshare this morning.The female Ring-necked Duck and a juvenile Glaucous Gull were at Loch Sandary. The American Coot and 8 Pintail were at Loch nam Feithean. A juvenile Glaucous Gull was at Aird an Runair. The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was near Loch Eaval.

South Uist: Sea-watching at Ardvule (0910 – 1040) produced 2 Common Scoters,  6 Long-tailed Duck, 27 Eiders, 21 Kittiwakes, a Gannet and 3 Great Northern Divers heading south; and a juvenile Glaucous Gull flew north. 19 Greenland White-fronted Geese were at Loch Thallan, Daliburgh and a juvenile Glaucous Gull was at Ludag.

20th January:

Benebecula: A Black-tailed Godwit was on Coot Loch today.

South Uist: 50 Snow Buntings were at Balgarva.

19th January:

North Uist: 46 Common Scoters were off the west side of Berneray and at least 16 Slavonian Grebes were off the east side. 3 Snow Buntings were with a flock of Twite at Borve machair, Berneray.

18th January:

South Uist: A juvenile Kumlien's Gull was at Ardivachar today and a juvenile Glaucous Gull at West Gerinish. 26 Snow Buntings were on Bornish machair today.

17th January:

North Uist: The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was seen at Tigharry, opposite Loch Eaval again today. The Cackling Goose and a juvenile Glaucous Gull were on Baleshare.

South Uist: A drake Goosander was on Loch Eynort with Red-breasted Mergansers this afternoon. A 1st winter Little Gull was to the south of Ardvule and a drake Pintail was on a flood on Bornish machair.

16th January:

North Uist: 2 Jack Snipe were in Carinish this today. 2 juvenile Glaucous Gulls were on Baleshare this morning and 2 drake Pintail are on Loch na Paisg.

15th January:

North Uist: The Cackling Goose was seen on Baleshare this morning and a juvenile Glaucous Gull was there this afternoon. The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was at Tigharry, in a field opposite Loch Eaval. The female Ring-necked Duck, drake Scaup and 10+ Fieldfare were at Loch Sandary. 6 Goldfinch were at Sctovein, Grimsay this morning.

14th January:

Lewis: 8 Snow Buntings were at South Galson.

North Uist: The 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was showing well opposite Loch Eaval today. The female Ring-necked Duck and drake Scaup were on Loch Sandary. The American Coot, drake Green-winged Teal and 5 Pintail were on Loch nam Feithean.

Benbecula: 2 Snow Buntings were at Borve.

13th January:

North Uist: A Jack Snipe was in Carinish today. 13 pale-bellied Brent Geese were by the causeway to Gearradubh, Grimsay today. A dead juvenile Glaucous Gull was picked up off the North Ford causeway.

North Uist: The Cackling Goose was seen on Baleshare again today.

South Uist: A 1st winter Iceland Gull and 2 Snow Buntings were at Ardivachar today.

10th January:

North Uist: A 1st winter Ring-billed Gull was at Loch na Reivil this afternoon. The female Ring-necked Duck, drake Green-winged Teal and Scaup are on Loch Sandary with 10 Fieldfare nearby.

8th January:

Benbecula: A 1st winter Iceland Gull was at Borve.

South Uist: Ardvule (0900 – 1050) produced a southerly movement of 4 Great Northern Divers, 3 Red-throated Divers, 2 Fulmars, 11 Gannets, 46 Kittiwakes, 2 Razorbills, 2 Black Guillemots, 4 Long-tailed Duck, 8 Eiders and 3 Red-breasted Mergansers.

7th January:

South Uist: Sea-watching from Ardvule this morning for 2 hours produced 14 Red-throated Divers, 5 Great Northern Divers, 9 Gannets, 8 Long-tailed Ducks and 19 Eiders heading south.

6th January:

North Uist: A 1st winter Iceland Gull was seen flying west over Loch Leodosay and later north-west along the shore on Baleshare. The American Coot was on Loch nam Feithean and both the drake Green-winged Teal and female Ring-necked Duck were on Loch Sandary.

Insects: A male Winter Moth was seen at Carnan last night.

4th January:

North Uist: A juvenile Greenland White-fronted Goose and 2 Snow Buntings were on Baleshare this morning.

Benbecula: A 1st winter Iceland Gull was at Borve Point. 12 Fieldfare were at Market Stance. 8 Brent Geese were off Gramsdale. 7 Greenland White-fronted Geese were at Loch Mor. A 1st winter Iceland Gull was on the North Ford.

South Uist: A 1st winter Glaucous Gull and 25 Snow Buntings were on the South Ford.

Marine Sightings: A dead Striped Dolphin was on the shore between the Dark Island and Borve Point.

3rd January:

North Uist: The female Ring-necked Duck, drake Scaup and Green-winged Teal are on Loch Sandary. The American Coot and 9 Pintail (6 males) were on Loch nam Feithean with a Pink-footed Goose nearby. 8 Goldfinch were by Balranald visitor centre whilst 30 Snow Buntings were at Aird an Runair. The Firecrest was in Grenitote memorial garden. 20 Fieldfare were at Ahmore. The drake American Wigeon was on Loch Aileodair. A Pink-footed Goose was on Baleshare.

Benbecula: A Black-tailed Godwit was at Coot Loch.

South Uist: 2 Slavonian Grebes and 6 Scaup were on Loch Bee.

2nd January:

North Uist: The female Ring-necked Duck, drake Green-winged Teal and Scaup are still on Loch Sandary.

South Uist: A Pomarine Skua, 79 Kittiwakes and 3 Gannets flew south at Ardvule this morning.

1st January:
